Each year, Alpha Sigma Phi’s Founders Day Challenge serves as the Fraternity’s primary fundraising vehicle, raising funds for the benefit of our chapters and members. Gifts made during the Founders Day Challenge, taking place from September 1 to the end of the calendar year, go towards the Fraternity's ability to continually lead the way in educational programming amongst the nation’s fraternities and provide a variety of scholarships. With the growth of existing chapters and addition of new groups, there is more demand than ever before for our programming. Through the Founders Day Challenge, our men are given the opportunity to attend meaningful educational programming at little-to-no cost.
Make a gift: Beginning on September 1st, you can make a gift by visiting this website. Doing so can help provide valuable scholarships, educational programming, and needed mental health resources to our members. Once you have made your gift, be sure to “challenge” chapter brothers and friends to make a gift as well.
Spread the word: Spread the word about the Founders Day Challenge and our 175th Anniversary on social media and to your alumni network – encouraging others to re-engage with Alpha Sigma Phi.
All gifts made during the Founders Day Challenge also count toward the Campaign TBTM. Your gift, no matter how big or small, really does go a long way!
This year, as we celebrate our 175th Anniversary, the Founders Day Challenge will end not just with our Day of Giving, but rather with 175 Hours of Giving! From Monday, November 30, through Sunday, December 6, there will be many opportunities for bonus points, matching gifts and other to-be-announced opportunities.
Chapters who win a category in their division get an extra $1,000 in their chapter endowment. Second place finishers receive an extra $500. The two categories are:
Simply put, the chapter whose membership donates the most money from September 1-December 6 wins.
Leading up to the 175 Hours of Giving, one donation will equal one point. During the 175 Hours of Giving, however, there will be opportunities to multiply points during 'Point Surges.' These definitely make strategy a requirement, as a lot can happen during these periods of time.
Alpha Sigma Phi introduced chapter vs. chapter competition for the first time in 2016. This year, chapters are split into six divisions, as follows:
Patriotism (1,000 + total initiates)
Honor (600 – 999 total initiates)
Purity (400 -599 total initiates)
Charity (200 – 399 total initiates)
Silence (1 – 199 total initiates)
Provisional (only current provisional chapters)
Note: Total initiates accounts for current undergraduate members AND living alumni members.
In early 2021, the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation will be launching a new giving initiative, similar to the Founders Day Challenge, in conjunction with March Madness. Please revisit this link in early 2021 for more information and keep an eye on our official Facebook, Instagram and Twitter!
