For more than 100 years a group of men called the Grand Council have convened to conduct the Fraternity's business in between Grand Chapter (the Fraternity's biennial business meeting). These men set the vision that will be carried out by the Fraternity's Staff, undergraduates, and volunteers.
Members of the Grand Council are volunteers with respect to their service on the board; they are not compensated for the time to prepare for or attend meetings or other official activities they perform.
Undergraduate Grand Council members are reimbursed for or provided travel, meals, and lodging expenses at meetings. The term of service of undergraduate members is one year or until 120 days after graduation. Alumni members of the Grand Council are elected to four year terms and may not be elected to serve more than two consecutive terms. Vacancies on the Grand Council between Grand Chapter are filled by nomination of the Grand Senior President with approval of the Grand Council members.
Every two years, Alpha Sigma Phi appoints a new Grand Council. To be considered for appointment alumni and undergraduates are encouraged to submit a resume and cover letter to tbtm@alphasig.org.

The CLVEN National House Corporation is an independent legal entity created by the Fraternity in 2016 as a response to the growing need for chapter housing, greater financial resources, and professional management of fraternity chapter property. CLVEN's Mission is to enhance the undergraduate fraternity experience by providing assistance and support as it relates to housing or other forms of shared space through House Corporations and Chapters of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.
The Board of Directors consists of at least three alumni members of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity who are appointed by the Fraternity's Grand Council; one member of the Grand Council, appointed by the Grand Council; and one member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation, recommended by the Foundation and confirmed by the Grand Council. The President and CEO of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. A board member may not serve more than two consecutive, four year terms. CLVEN Board members serve at the pleasure of the Grand Council of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity as volunteer LLC managers. Terms for CLVEN coincide with the terms of the Grand Council, which begin and end at a Grand Chapter.
If you would like to learn more about CLVEN or are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please contact the Fraternity Headquarters at clven@alphasig.org for more information.

The Board of Advisors (BOA) was formed to provide alumni with the opportunity to assist Alpha Sigma Phi in achieving long-term goals. The BOA is not a governing board; we are a working board. This means our members support Alpha Sigma Phi staff in progressing toward the goals outlined in the 2025 Strategic Plan (and beyond).
Our committees are:
● Fraternity Support Committee
● Foundation Support Committee
● CLVEN Support Committee
● Brotherhood, Events and Board Growth Committee
The BOA is led by an Executive Committee, composed of a Chair, Chair-Elect, Secretary, and several committee chairs. The Executive Committee synergizes the energy of our committees and ensures goals are met and our impact is tangible.

Our Recent Impact
● Every BOA member serves as an ambassador for the Founders Day Challenge, encouraging alumni to support the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation and keep our membership and programming costs at the lowest among all national fraternities.
● The Fraternity Support Committee surveyed recent graduates to create programming that is beneficial to alumni beginning in their careers.
● The Brotherhood, Events, and Board Growth Committee held a bourbon tasting event, bringing together members of the Grand Council, Foundation Board, CLVEN Board, and BOA for an evening of brotherhood.
● The Foundation Support Committee helped staff select a new online giving platform to better serve our generous donors.
How to Join
Brothers interested in joining the BOA can email Sam Harris, Director of the Foundation, at (sharris@alphasig.org). You will be connected with our Chair or Chair-Elect for more information about the BOA commitment.
Once you join, there are no term limits as a member. You can serve on any of our committees and have a real impact on the future direction of Alpha Sigma Phi.
In addition, all BOA members are invited to attend the All-Board Meeting, held annually in February, and the summer meeting held annually in conjunction with Alpha Sigma Phi’s summer programming.
