BOARD OF DIRECTORS

CREATING THE FUTURE OF ALPHA SIG HOUSING

The Alpha Sigma Phi National House Corporation is an independent legal entity created by the Fraternity in 2016 as a response to the growing need for chapter housing, greater financial resources, and professional management of fraternity chapter property. Its Mission is to enhance the undergraduate fraternity experience by providing assistance and support as it relates to housing or other forms of shared space through House Corporations and Chapters of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity.

The Board of Directors consists of at least three alumni members of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity who are appointed by the Fraternity's Grand Council; one member of the Grand Council, appointed by the Grand Council; and one member of the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation, recommended by the Foundation and confirmed by the Grand Council. The President and CEO of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity is an ex-officio member of the Board of Directors. A board member may not serve more than two consecutive, four-year terms. Housing Board members serve at the pleasure of the Grand Council of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity as volunteer LLC managers. Terms for the Housing Corporation coincide with the terms of the Grand Council, which begin and end at a Grand Chapter.

If you would like to learn more about The National Housing Corporation or are interested in serving on the Board of Directors, please contact the Fraternity Headquarters at clven@alphasig.org for more information.

HOUSING FAQs

ANSWERING YOUR HOUSING QUESTIONS

Who do I contact if my chapters wants to acquire housing?

Please send an inquiry email to clven@alphasig.org and one of our staff will follow up on your request.

What does move-in/out look like?

Alpha Sigma Phi National Housing Corporation staff will email our residents in the summer to remind them of check-in dates and again before any check-out or building closure dates during the year. These dates reflect what is in their resident occupancy agreement and can be referenced throughout the year. You are welcome to be there and we will send any guarantors a message notifying them of move-in.

What communication should I expect?

Both resident and guarantor will receive occasional communications from national housing staff throughout the year, but your son will be your primary contact as it relates to housing-related items. Should you have questions, you are encouraged to start with him and work with the housing corporation should you need clarification. The National Housing Corporation as an organization, is always growing to meet the needs of its residents. We are all in this together and are happy to hear feedback and questions, positive and constructive, from you!

What is the standard procedure for an emergency at a House?

During normal business hours, you can call 317-843-1911 and will be directed to a staff member to assist you. Outside of these hours, please follow our prompt system to leave a message with the Housing Emergency line, and a staff member will follow up with you. Please note that only Alpha Sigma Phi Housing Corporation owned or managed properties utilize this system. Please note, if you are not an owned property, please contact your local House Corporation or the appropriate property contact for emergencies.

Who can I contact if I have more questions?

We encourage you to work with your son first on any housing-related questions you may have. His lease agreement and chapter leadership can often answer most questions that come up. If you still have further questions, please feel free to contact a member of the National Housing Staff at clven@alphasig.org or by phone at 317-843-1911. We will reply within 24 business hours should you miss us.

Should tenants have Personal Property Insurance?

While the Alpha Sigma Phi Housing Corporation provides liability insurance to all of our houses, it does not extend to cover personal items within the facility itself. As with any residence hall, apartment, or other collegiate living environment, we highly recommend the purchase of “renters insurance” to protect any personal items within the house. If you have questions about any insurance, Liability or Personal Property, please EMAIL (instead of calling) clven@alphasig.org
