To request funds from an existing endowment, please visit myAlphaSig and select “Endowment Request” from the Forms drop-down menu. All requests must be approved by the Alumni Association President, or Chapter Advisor if the chapter does not have a recognized Alumni Association.

A.W. Lubbers Leadership Fund
Ben DeRose Better the Student Scholarship
Brother Ben DeRose, NC State ’18, Omega ’21, was well known for his athletic and leadership ability. Ben was a nationally ranked wrestler in middle school and at the state level in high school. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout in 2018. While attending North Carolina State University, Ben pursued a major in Microbiology and became passionate about research. As a member of the Beta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi, he was affectionately known as “The Captain”, because of his commitment to building better men as the Vice President of Member Retention. This scholarship fund will allow the Beta Zeta Chapter to honor Ben’s memory and legacy by awarding a scholarship(s) to an undergraduate student from each new member class.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to NC State University undergraduate students who are pursuing membership in the Beta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.
Brent & Lindzey Bowers Leadership Fund
Alpha Sigma Phi has been and will continue to be an important piece of Brent and Lindzey’s lives. The ability to contribute to the leadership development of members of our Fraternity is important to both Brent and Lindzey because of the profound impact it can create. Brent is a founding father of the Epsilon Chi chapter at Capital University, and Lindzey is a member of Kappa Phi Omega at Otterbein University. Being able to help students at each institution was the reason for establishing this fund.
Who Can Apply:
Epsilon Chi (Capital) and Epsilon Theta (Otterbein) undergraduate members; to attend fraternity leadership programming.
Bryan & Mandy Proctor Leadership & Service Fund
This endowment was established to give back to an organization that has given Bryan & Mandy so much as well as to provide opportunity for the men that will join the organization through our focus on growth and expansion. 60% of the annual spendable balance will be made available for qualified undergraduate members to attend a summer leadership program (Elevate or Grand Chapter), with preferential consideration to first generation college students and members of provisional chapters or newly (re)chartered chapters. 40% of the annual spendable balance will be made available for chapters and provisional chapters to plan a philanthropic (fundraising or awareness) event for one of Alpha Sigma Phi’s official philanthropic partners. Preferential consideration will be given to events that benefit RAINN or any successor with an emphasis on sexual assault awareness and prevention.

Chris & Karrie Musbach Leadership Fund
Award scholarships for undergraduate members to be able to attend Fraternity leadership programs such as: Academy of Leadership, Better Man Weekend, Elevate: National Leadership Conference, Grand Chapter, Burns Leadership Institute, etc. Preferential consideration will be given to undergraduate members from Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan) and Epsilon Pi (Miami OH).

Preference to Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan) and Epsilon Pi (Miami OH) undergraduate members to attend fraternity leadership programming.
Edmund Hamburger Memorial Leadership Fund
Brother Edmund (Ed) Hamburger, NYU Poly '45, Omega '23, served as the 29th Grand Senior President of Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity from 1988 - 1990. In 2022, Ed attended Alpha Sigma Phi's Grand Chapter, held in New Orleans, Louisiana. During the weekend, Ed had the opportunity to reconnect with many brothers with whom he had worked and mentored during his tenure as Grand Senior President. He was also able to present the three Grand Senior President's Cup awards to the fraternity's highest-performing undergraduate chapters.
Ed loved Alpha Sigma Phi and viewed his time at Grand Chapter as
the highlight of his fraternity experience. Ed passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023. In his memory, his family has established the Edmund Hamburger Memorial Leadership Fund to support current Alpha Sigma Phi undergraduate brothers so they too can attend programs, like Grand Chapter, and carry those experiences with them for life.

Any undergraduate brother who attends a summer leadership program.
Everett & Marie Leedom Career Preparation Track Leadership Fund
This endowment was created to provide scholarship for undergraduate brothers to attend the Career Prep track at the Fraternity’s summer leadership programs.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Gamma Zeta (Bowling Green) undergraduate members to attend Elevate or Grand Chapter as a participant in the Career Prep (or similar) track.
Evin Varner Leadership Fund
This fund was created to honor Brother Evin Varner. Brother Varner loved interacting with undergraduate brothers at leadership conferences, so it was only appropriate that a leadership fund be established to help provide leadership scholarships for undergraduate men to experience Alpha Sigma Phi at the international level through a leadership program.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to undergraduate brothers enrolled at an institution in the following states: Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana, to attend the Fraternity’s leadership programming.
Gale Wilkerson Interfraternity Leadership Endowment Fund
This fund was established by Brother Gale Wilkerson to provide a scholarship to a junior or senior member of the Delta Chi Chapter of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity who has provided exceptional Interfraternity Leadership on the Oklahoma State University campus. In the event the chapter ceases to exist, the scholarship will be available to the General Delta Tau Delta Fraternity.
Garvey Family Leadership Fund
Award scholarships for undergraduate members to be able to attend Fraternity leadership programs such as: Academy of Leadership, Better Man Weekend, Elevate: National Leadership Conference, Grand Chapter, Burns Leadership Institute, etc.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to undergraduate brothers enrolled at the institution of Westminster (Alpha Nu).
Geiselhart Family Leadership Fund
Evan and his son Will were both initiated into the Eta Chapter at the University of Illinois. Both men served on National Boards and attended National Fraternity gatherings. This fund will provide leadership program funding to undergraduate brothers from the Eta (Illinois) Chapter.
Who Can Apply:
Eta (Illinois) undergraduate members to attend fraternity leadership programming.
John Anderson Leadership Fund
This fund was established by Brother John Anderson to provide scholarships to undergraduate brothers to attend Fraternity programming. Preferential consideration will be given to brothers of the Beta Omicron Chapter (Trine University).
Who Can Apply: Qualified Undergraduate members in good standing from the Beta Omicron Chapter.
John & Sarah Gibson Leadership Fund
This fund was established by Brother John Gibson and his wife Sarah Gibson to provide scholarships to undergraduate brothers to attend Fraternity leadership and educational programming. In addition, the funds can be used in accordance with Foundation Policy to support housing efforts for the Gamma Chi Chapter (Indiana University).
Kutz Virtual Archives Leadership Fund
Matthew & Molly Maurer Leadership Fund
Award scholarships for undergraduate members to be able to attend Fraternity leadership programs such as Academy of Leadership, Better Man Weekend, Elevate: National Leadership Conference, Grand Chapter, Burns Leadership Institute, etc. Preferential consideration will be given to qualified undergraduate members from Gamma Zeta (Bowling Green State University), newly (re)chartered chapters, provisional chapters, and interest groups.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Gamma Zeta (Bowling Green) undergraduate members to attend fraternity leadership programming. Brothers from newly (re)chartered chapters, provisional chapters, and interest groups may also be considered.
Paul Bliklen Leadership Fund
An endowment which provides annual scholarships for qualified undergraduate members to attend our industry recognized leadership and educational programs. Preferential consideration will be given to qualified undergraduates of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at Purdue University.
Ralph Burns Leadership Institute Fund
An endowment which provides annual funds for qualified undergraduate members to attend our industry recognized leadership and educational programs.
Roberts Leadership Fund
This fund was established by Brother Milton “Kip” Roberts to provide scholarships to undergraduate brothers to attend Fraternity programming. Preferential consideration will be given to brothers of the Delta Tau (Murray State University) Chapter, along with newer chapters without alumni support.
Who Can Apply: Undergraduate brothers from the Delta Tau (Murray State University) Chapter, along with newer chapters without alumni support.
Stan & Dotty Thurston Leadership Fund
This permanently restricted fund was established by Stan Thurston and his wife Dotty Thurston for focused grant-making in qualified leadership and character development programs that are hosted or sponsored by Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity or the foundation. The endowment is intended to assist all undergraduate members and chapters; not specific to any to any one chapter or member demographic
Tom & Adam Brown Leadership Fund
These funds will provide annual scholarships for undergraduate members to attend one of our leadership programs such as Academy of Leadership, Better Man Weekend, the Burns Leadership Institute or Elevate: National Leadership Conference. Preferential consideration will be given to qualified brothers from Gamma Chi (Indiana University) and Upsilon (Pennsylvania State University), then to qualified undergraduate brothers from any Big Ten school.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Gamma Chi (Indiana) and Upsilon (Penn State) undergraduate members to attend fraternity leadership programming. Brothers from other Big Ten schools may also be considered.
Tom & Toni Hinkley Leadership Fund
Alpha Sigma Phi has always been a leader in offering leadership development opportunities for our members as evidenced by the Ralph F. Burns program, Better Man Weekend, and Elevate. To further broaden the opportunities available to our members, this fund will help Alpha Sigma Phi members attend external programs such as Leadershape and UIFI.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Gamma Chi (Indiana) undergraduate members to attend non-Alpha Sigma Phi educational programming.
Alpha Nu Scholarship Fund
This fund was created to encourage scholarship among members of the Alpha Nu (Westminster) Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.

The Alpha Pi Master Scholar Award Scholarship Fund
This fund was created to encourage scholarship among members of the Alpha Pi (Purdue) Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.

Alpha Pi (Purdue) Undergraduate Member who is a STEM student at Purdue or an alumnus who is pursuing an MBA.
Alpha Sigma Phi Gives Back Endowment
This fund was established to provide scholarships to undergraduate brothers who choose to give back in the form of community service, with preference given to those brothers involved with the Sig Experience and initiated at the Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan) Chapter.
Who Can Apply: Preference to Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan) undergraduate members who choose to give back in the form of community service, with preference to those involved with the Sig Experience program.
Alpha Sigma Phi Pride Scholarship Fund
This fund was established to provide need-based scholarships for brothers who identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender and to highlight the inclusiveness of the Alpha Sigma Phi brotherhood.
Who Can Apply:
Brothers who identify as gay, bisexual, or transgender.
Byron R. Nugen Scholarship Fund
Byron Nugen was a chapter member of the Gamma Chi Chapter; the last member added to the original new member class. While Byron never held an office or served as a committee chairman, he was a great friend and positive, non-judgmental brother to all members. He actively participated in all fraternity activities while never missing a class at Indiana University.
For many years, Byron was a loyal alumnus, serving as a volunteer to help the Gamma Chi Chapter. He served on the Scholarship Trust, House Corporation, participated in several membership reviews and did the “dirty” work such as cleaning the chapter house whenever there was a need. Byron’s passion was scholarship, and in particular, support for those undergraduates from small town Indiana, paying their own way through college, just as he had to do. Byron graduated from IU, having never missed a class! It is because of that passion and nearly 50 years of service to Alpha Sigma Phi that this fund was established by his great friend and chapter brother, John Chaney.

Preference to Gamma Chi (Indiana University) Chapter undergraduate members, members from other chapters, provisional chapters, and interest groups in Indiana, and initiated members born in Indiana.
Carl P. Huber Scholarship Fund
This fund was established in honor of Brother Huber who initiated at the Theta Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi at the University of Michigan in 1922. This fund was established to provide scholarships, computer hardware, and educational materials to brothers aspiring to work in the medical field.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Theta (University of Michigan), Alpha Pi (Purdue University), Beta Rho (University of Toledo), and Gamma Chi (Indiana University) undergraduate members.
Connor Cummings Memorial Scholarship Fund
Connor Cummings passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015. He was doing what he loved; taking photographs to share with the world. He was 20 years young, and he left his family, friends and brothers broken hearted, but grateful for having had him bless our lives. Connor’s spirit will live on forever in our hearts, minds, and the images he captured. Connor graduated from Morris Knolls HS is 2014. He was excited for what the future held and always had a contagious smile on his face. In the Fall of 2014, he headed off to UMASS, Amherst, where he had been studying psychology. He rushed Alpha Sigma Phi, was initiated in April 2015 and was later elected Recruitment Director. Connor made friends quickly. He was kind, caring, and always able and willing to help everyone. He possessed an adventurous, fun-loving, and positive spirit, which will never leave us. This Memorial Fund will help to keep Connor with us and always remember to ‘capture” life.

Donald Forslund Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Brother Forslund to provide scholarships to qualified undergraduate students with a GPA at, or above the all-campus male average. Preferential consideration for these full or partial scholarships will be given to qualified undergraduate members of the Alpha Tau (Stevens Institute of Technology) Chapter and the Zeta Omicron (University of South Florida) Chapter with majors in the field of Science, Engineering, Technology and/or Math.
John and Ann Chaney Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Brother John and his wife Ann Chaney to provide academic and/or needs-based scholarships to undergraduate Recruitment Directors of any chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi that exceeds established goals/benchmark.
John Lyon Scholarship Fund
John Lyon, Radford ’87 is a former chapter president of the Delta Theta Chapter and is the 1989 Frank F. Hargear recipient – the Fraternity’s highest undergraduate award – and a 2009 Delta Beta Xi recipient. He understands better than others the impact our Fraternity can have on making good men Better Men, which is why he wanted to establish this scholarship fund.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to Delta Theta (Radford) undergraduate members who hold an H-Officer position within the chapter.
Kenn & Carol Ann Parsons Scholarship Fund
This fund was created in part to honor Kenn’s late wife, Carol Ann. This fund will provide recruitment-based scholarships to men who join the Zeta (Ohio State) Chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi and initiate with a 3.0 Grade Point Average or higher during their new member term.
Who Can Apply:
Newly initiated undergraduate members from the Zeta (Ohio State) Chapter with a GPA of 3.0 or higher during the term of their initiation.
Marvin A. Chapman Scholarship Fund
This fund was established to award scholarships to initiated brothers in their Junior and Senior year of study who show economic need.
Who Can Apply:
Undergraduate members in their Junior or Senior year who show economic need.
Nicholas A.H. Swogger Epsilon Scholarship Fund
This fund established three scholarships for members of the Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan University) Chapter; the Ralph F. Burns Memorial Scholarship, the B.O.S.S Scholarship, and the 1863 Award. Although maintained by the Alpha Sigma Phi Foundation, all three scholarship recipients are selected by the Epsilon Alumni Association.
Ohio Wesleyan - Wells Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Brother Robert D. Wells and his wife Dorothy S. Wells to provide scholarships to undergraduate members at the Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan University) Chapter. The award is presented to a brother majoring in science, math, or engineering. The fund is named after Brother Wells’ parents.
Who Can Apply: Undergraduate brothers from the Epsilon (Ohio Wesleyan University) Chapter majoring in science, math, or engineering.
Robert W. Kutz Scholarship Fund

This fund was established by Brother Milton “Kip” Roberts to provide
needs-based scholarships to undergraduate brothers of Alpha Sigma Phi experiencing life challenges and/or hardships. Consideration will be given to Undergraduate brothers from all chapter of Alpha Sigma Phi.

Thawley Family Legacy Scholarship Fund
This fund was established by Drew M. Thawley, Epsilon ’94, and Bradford G. Thawley, Epsilon ’08 as a tribute to Philip M. Thawley, Epsilon ’04, Omega ’08. The scholarship will support need-based academic scholarships for qualifying undergraduate brothers who are a legacy of another brother. (For this Fund’s purposes, ‘legacy’ is defined as the grandson, son, or brother of an Alpha Sig from any chapter).

Zachary Stoltz Scholarship Fund
This fund was established as a memorial for the late Zachary C. Stoltz, Epsilon Upsilon ’09, by his family. The scholarship is for the benefit of undergraduate members from the Epsilon Upsilon (Clemson University) Chapter.
Who Can Apply:
Preference to new members from the Epsilon Upsilon (Clemson) Chapter who exemplify excellence as a new member and in his responsibilities to his fellow brothers, or to existing members of the chapter who have devoted a great deal of time and effort on behalf of the chapter. Any recipient must be enrolled as a student at Clemson, must be in good standing with the chapter, and must spend the grant on an educational expense.
