THE VIRTUAL CHAPTER EXPERIENCE

Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity provides an opportunity for men to share brotherhood, develop skills and gain the leadership experiences to become better men, regardless of what higher education institution he is enrolled in.


Alpha Sigma Phi has two undergraduate experiences: 

1) A traditional in-person experience centered on or near a college campus

2) A virtual experience


Membership Criteria:

  • Enrolled at an accredited higher education institution in an undergraduate or master’s program.
  • Is not, nor has been, a member of another inter(national) fraternity, with membership in the NIC, FFC or FEA.
  • Potential members eligible to join a chapter associated with a college/university are not eligible to join.


Financial

  • $100 one-time Initiation Fee. Non-refundable and must be paid in full prior to participation in Scenes 1-4 of the Initiation Ceremony. 
  • $10 monthly fee, as long as the member is enrolled at an accredited higher education institution ($250 maximum). The member can also pay in full for $200, thus receiving a $50 discount.


Structure:

  • Micro-chapters will be established based on geographical location and career field interests.

Frequently Asked Questions:

1. How do members get initiated?  

Members will participate in the Virtual Initiation Ceremony with Scenes 1-4 being held on the same date. Scene 5 will be held at the conclusion of each academic term in which members are either graduating and/or transferring. The volunteer advisor and/or staff member will work with the Vice President of Ritual and Traditions to perform the Initiation Ceremony. Ritual supplies will not be provided to a virtual chapter.


2. What are the target locations for Kappa Mu?

There are 50. These include: Albuquerque, Arlington, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Colorado Springs, Columbus, DC, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, El Paso, Fort Worth, Fresno, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Louisville, Memphis, Mesa, Miami, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Nashville, New Orleans, New York City, Oakland, Oklahoma City, Omaha, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Portland, Raleigh, Sacramento, San Antonio, San Diego, San Francisco, San Jose, Seattle, Tampa, Tucson, Tulsa, and Virginia Beach.


3. What are the target career fields for Kappa Nu? 

There are 30. These include: Accounting and finance, architecture and engineering, arts and culture, aviation, business management and administration, communications, community and social services, construction management, education, entertainment, entrepreneurism, farming/fishing/forestry, fundraising, government and politics, health and medicine, history, hospitality and tourism, human resources, installation/repair/maintenance, law and public policy, marketing and advertising, military, non-profits, police/fire, real estate, recruiting, sales, sciences, sports management, and technology/media. 


4. Are there local dues? 

Each micro-chapter is in charge of deciding if they would like a local dues structure beyond what they pay to the National Fraternity. This may differ by chapter (Kappa Mu/Kappa Nu) and/or it may differ by micro-chapter.
